G24/drp

Hi,

I receievd a parking charge from G24 earlier this year (May) and just ignored it. A few letters later and I have not receievd a letter from DRP - a debt recovery company? Now they are asking for £150. don't pay possible court action etc....

My question is do I just ignore this and they will give up?

Or pay? I'm guessign it's too late to negotiate it down?

the letter does reference a Supreme court ruling last November about a company that won in a case for a parking charge. Reference case uksc-2015-0116. I went to read it but dont speak lawyer.

I am in Scotland and I know the law is different compared to England/Wales but Supreme court ruling overrides "local" law?

Some advice please :)

Thanks

And it applies doubly so in Scotland as meaningful actions by debt collectors are rarer than hen's teeth.

The Protection of Freedom Act 2012 does not exist in Scotland so there is no keeper liability. Only the driver can be held liable so as long as nobody tells the parking scammers who was driving, nothing bad will ever happen.
The best way to ensure the driver's details are not revealed is not to contact them ever, and ignore anything and every thing you get from them and their toothless debt collectors.

All of the above overrides the Supreme Court (Beavis) case because they can't take the keeper to court.
