Is student rental address a problem on credit file?

Hi I'm new to the forum so hope it's ok to post here. I wondered if it is a problem to have an old student address on a credit file? My son has just checked his Equifax file (for the first time as he wants to apply for a credit card) and he has a linked address which is his 2nd student rental address. It's linked because he organised the broadband for the house and Virgin did a "soft" check. He only stayed in the house during term time so his main/permanent address has always been the family home. It appears that any searches done on him now are also done on the student address. Can he/should he get the student address removed or is this normal. He has no problems on his credit file and the Virgin product was paid on time and is finished. Thank you for any advice.

He won't be able to get the address removed if it correctly relates to his credit history.
Usually, lenders require details of the last 3 years addresses.
A rental address (particularly an historical one) should not be any issue with getting credit, nor a student address linked to a university etc
Credit assessment is based on the person, not their address.0 -
Thank you thunderella, the linked address does correctly relate to his credit history. I think his biggest concern is that any credit searches are done on both addresses ( he has lived back at the family home since 2013) and therefore looks like he's had double the amount of searches.0
