Tucan travel refuse to name tour hotels

Going on a tour with Tucan and got my final docs and noticed only arrival hotel was named. Tour stays in 5 other cities and I wanted to know where about hotels were so I could plan my free time and research localities. They say it's their policy not to tell customers as hotels might change but say hotels will be in 'central 'locations. Anyone know if I can do anything to get them to reveal?

When do you travel? This is pretty standard, Travelsphere don't confirm until a few weeks before.
You might be able to find previous reviews from the same trip, that would give you an idea.0 -
I've been on two Travelsphere holidays, and all the hotels were on the itinerary from the beginning. I agree with the OP as I want to research the hotels, locations and good restaurants nearby. It saves a lot of time if you can do this before you go.0

I doubt it is 'their policy'. I would call again.
Perhaps what they mean is that they can not guarantee the exact hotels so far in advance.
What I am sure they can however do is give you the current planned hotels within the itinerary or examples of those used previously.
Another thought is that the reservation agent may simply not have that detail of information on their system. Call during the week and ask to speak to a 'Product Manager' or someone who is responsible for planing and setting the tour itineraries (which may actually be bought in from a 3rd party supplier).
I would call and explain why you are asking and that you are looking to research localities and that you understand that hotels may change.0 -
The tour starts this Sunday 20th November so it's frustrating. I have asked again and this is what i got from the Reservations Manager:
Unfortunately we do not have lists of accommodation for the tours, and though there are hotels we expect to use we do not provide the details as the accommodations are still subject to change.
I appreciate you are just looking to do a little planning, but don't worry, that will fall in to place naturally on tour.
You can always speak to your Tour Leader about nearby options and suggestions, and can review some of the possible optional excursions for many locations in the detailed itinerary description in the Dossier. There are 7 other people on tour with you who I'm sure you will want to do some co-exploring with too.
Wherever you stay, please be assured we choose all accommodations based on a number of factors, and accessibility to the surrounding city/area is factored in.
I won't be using them again.0 -

Neither will these people
even though I'm not their fan at the moment that's a tad unfair- most of those reviews are positive, average 4.07 / 5 over 239 reviews0 -

!!!!!! ?
You moan about not being told about hotels (who cares...) and then defend some bad reviews which mention poor accommodation among other things.
I'm not being unfair, -I did not write them- just sift through the reviews to see what can go wrong and brace yourself for this.
Hope you enjoy your holiday.
Next time DIY so you know where you're going.

I've been with Tucan before when I was told hotel info beforehand and they were all fine. I am not worried about the standard of hotels, just frustrated at not knowing their location,. I wasn't moaning I was asking for advice, and I wasn't defending them just being impartial and pointing out there's very few poor reviews on that link.0 -
Do you know the towns you are staying in? If so you will know the general locations if it says centrally located.0
