Is sky scanner competitive?

Looking to buy long distance flights soon. Is Sky scanner a decent option in terms of cost? or do I need to be checking prices on the home page of the carriers?

Skyscanner only puts you through to the airline site. I used to find them really reliable, but recently I have found their prices are not up to date

  • Skyscanner are only a price comparison site. OTAs and airlines pay to advertise on there. Skyscanner just advertise the info the advertiser feeds them. You can use it to find flights but book them direct with the airline. If the airline isn't linked on Skyscanner just go direct to the airline website. You can also search for flights on google flights, ITAMatrix and Kayak.
