Parking fine - never left the car

Hello, I have recently received a parking fine where I kept my car in a company car park as I was killing time while I was waiting for something to start. I parked my car and listened to a podcast for around 10 minutes and never left my car in that time and then I moved my car to to another car park for the event I was attending. What my question is, is that I am surprised to receive a fine as I was only there for 10 minutes and I never left my car. To my mind, I never actually 'parked' there. I don't see why I should pay £160 just for resting my car somewhere for a short time.

Do you have any grounds in not having to pay the fine as I never actually left the car? Thanks for any help.

    That's 'parking', sorry!

£160 sounds like you're at debt collector stage (DRP?) and probably beyond any appeal timescale, but I'm guessing.

    Much more information needed.

Have you read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky?

Not leaving the car isn't grounds!

    Forget that.

Now do a bit of reading of the newbies faq thread to understand the game you are now in.

Then work out which appeal letter to send and follow the advice in that thread.

You parked the car.... full stop

You parked the car for a reason, to kill time...

Why didnt you just park in the 2nd car park first and kill time in that one.

how is is 160 quid, most fines are 30 or 50 ish.

What signs are up in the car park, is it private, council.....

Not in the world of private parking. Nor are they 'fines'.

Although you are clearly not a newbie as far as MSE is concerned you might nevertheless find the newbie's sticky a useful place to gain an insight.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

I am at debt collector stage and I did park in a private car park. In retrospect it was a bit stupid to stop there but I naively thought common sense would be applied with regards to a fine. I had a quick glance through the sticky but I thought I'll ask the question on here; I'll have a proper look through it tomorrow.
