100k unsecured debts.

One big positive would be to see if your brother would be interested in joining the forum? My debt before I started working on it was no where near these levels but it's all relative! One huge help for me was actually coming on, being honest and open, receiving answers and advice on things I would perceive as being private before. Now I'm in a position to have my debt cleared by mid 2018, I have a budget where I now have actual savings stashed away! This wouldn't have been possible without the help and advice I received on here first hand. I admire you helping your bro but I think it would be very beneficial for him to come on himself.0

Thanks for your reply Bilko. I would really like him to sign up too but I think that we are a little way away from that point at the moment. Well done for sorting your debts out, it's good to hear these stories as it shows that it can be done with perseverance and effort.0 -

I am currently trying to help my brother sort out his 6 figure unsecured debt mountain. Can anyone point me in the direction of anyone else on here dealing with such a debt level. I have looked on here and can see lots of examples of 20k-50k but nothing really beyond that. I feel a bit daunted by the whole thing at its no even my debt!!!
Hi Timmymallett
Take a look at my sig and you will see our unsecured debt was just shy of £100k - it has been over 5 years of slogging away but we have paid back over 73k now. As others have said, it is all relative. I remember when I first came on here and found someone who owed £150k and had nearly paid it off. That gave me hope.
Sure there is a way forward for your brother.

Make your mind up.
Oh dear are you still pursuing this.
As I pointed out in post #11..... I was responding to a REPLY that you posted on to the thread that I had started. This is DIFFERENT to me responding to a pointless random thread/post initiated by someone else. Hopefully this will clarify this.... again.0 -

See above. My post, according to you was pointless and unnecessary, so you should have ignored it?Timmymallett wrote: »As I pointed out in post #11..... Ahhhhhh.....I completely understand now....the first part of post #11 was a REPLY, and the second part was a.....see above.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Can we all please remember that MSE is a FRIENDLY place
There is no need for anyone to get all stressy about this! So what if there are two threads about one topic, in the grand scheme of things that surely is not a biggie?
SO if people stop commenting it will simply slide down the pages organically.
Peace and love - life is short, let's focus on the real issues
DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
Timmy, don't rise to this. I have seen it before on here. Unfortunately there are people who revel in creating negativity. Focus on the people who are offering proper replies and ignore Taff's silliness.0

Thanks Mrs Tinks. It was not my intention to get into a cyber argument - was just looking for some advice.

Hi Timmy. Your post resonated with me as I remember wanting to know about other peoples debt levels at the start of my debt free journey. This was in May of this year. One of the things that I have learnt over the last 6 months is that huge debts are far more common than we think. I know of 2 couples who have combined debts in the 6 figure ball park. If you think about it, it's not that hard to accrue... A hefty car loan each, A couple of credit cards each, 2 overdrafts and a sizeable joint loan for home improvements and you are well on your way to 100k of debt.
Your brother is lucky to have your support. My own debts were 48K at the start but our income was far less that your brothers, so I guess it's all relative. Your brother will start to feel better about things when he sees the balances reducing.0
