I have just done a dummy purchase. The item showed as £295 on the item page but when I got to the order stage it added VAT, showed the breakdown of charges and the total.
The price before payment was clearly shown along with a FULL breakdown of costs.
I cannot see how you would miss the total payable, particularly as when I went through to input my details the total payable amount appeared as:
The total is hardly small and I haven't enlarged it. It is the only amount on the page too.0 -

6.1 Unless otherwise agreed in writing with us, you must pay for the goods at the time you place your order. The price of the product (which includes VAT) will be the price indicated on the order page when you placed your order
Later on in the terms, under the section headed "Payment & Price" (lower down, towards the end of the terms, as opposed to the section you quoted from headed "Price and payment") it says:Prices indicated are subject to VAT.0 -

Thanks for the information, I was thinking of putting in another order but I wasn't sure that I wouldn't end up buying something I didn't want.
Clearly it's down to me missing the VAT on the order page :embarasse Note to self "Take more time over orders in the future"
Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply and help me with this problem

As mentioned previously, when you sell to consumers, prices displayed MUST be inclusive of VAT - the law knows full well consumers dont read everything which is why consumer legislation basically wraps us in cotton wool. So they are breaking the law - just as I said, you might not want to push it if they are the only place that you can source it from.
Of course nothing stopping you completing the order & then reporting them to their local trading standards office. TS doesn't usually take action just over one complaint but some TS offices are better than others and will contact retailers to make them aware what they're doing is wrong. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
