Trapped by an insurer

Hi all,
In 2013 one of our flat roofs was ripped off by horrendous weather. The parties involved in repairing it (organised by the insurer) were absolutely useless and incompetent and what went from a £5k jo to fix, ended up being a £25k job as they kept passing us from company to company whilst water was pouring into the house and damaging all the walls and woodwork.
We now have a renewal quote which is doubled last year, which was again double the year before. But, we cannot escape them as no one else will insure us due to the previous claims. Is there anything we can do as the huge costs were their fault.
Thanks in advance,
Darren

One £25k claim shouldn't prevent you from getting competitive insurance elsewhere. Some companies may drop out, but not the whole market.
Have you had other claims too?
You could always try and find an insurer that only asks about a 3 year claim history, you may not need to declare the claim at all depending on policy start date vs claim incident date in 2013.0 -
Your premium could be increasing for other reasons than the cost of your claims (eg your insurer no longer wants you as a customer!)
Try a local broker (not Swinton) and see if they can find you a better deal0 -

This alone could limit your options.
Homeprotect are mentioned often here as being able to provide cover for unusual risks.
