According to peugeot 0 on the headlight level dial is standard and 3 is if you have a lot of weight in the back. When I toggle the dial the headlight beam looks lower in 3 than it does in 0.
Is this correct, or do I need my headlights aligned?

With weight in the back, the front of the car goes up and so the beam needs to be lowered. It sounds as if it's working correctly.0

Just 0 seems very high and blinding other road users.0

How do you know this?
Are oncoming vehicles flashing their lights at you?
If so it may be worthwhile getting the headlight alignment setting checked - but it sounds like the level adjusting system is working as it should.
It should cost that much - it's a matter of minutes to check and very easy to adjust.0 -
I think I may have got flashed once but not sure if the flash was at me. I've had the setting on 3 ever since. Also the light pattern looka different to all the other cars I've driven and one of the lights throws out a different pattern too.0

Shine the lights up against a wall or a garage door and see if they are a matched pair.
Perhaps some previous owner has replaced one headlight - or perhaps the bulb has not been fitted correctly.0 -

They should be adjusted so that, with minimal load, they sit at the correct position.
Then, as you load the car, and it gets a tail-down attitude, you adjust the height using the dial, so that the beam is brought back to the normal position.0 -

If you have recently replaced the headlamp bulbs, then you may not have seated them properly, that can throw off the beam alignment.0 -
Only had the car a few months and not really driven it much in the dark until recently. Will take it for alignment check this week. I don't think the bulbs are seated correctly either.0
