Lost sight in one eye?? Any benefit??

it is an award of DLA or PIP care component that gets these things.
not the fact that someone has a visual impairment.
as i said ... it is the receipt of the appropriate benefit and not being sight impaired that makes the difference
As the lady is 74, she would need to have problems severe enough to warrant Attendance Allowance, for her sight loss to earn her extra benefits. However, she could be entitled to benefits because of low income.0 -

that wasn't the point i was trying to make .
i was replying to the post that said having a sight impairment meant you can get more housing benefit.
for the second time, i replied saying it isn't the sight impairment, but the relevant disability benefit that attracted the housing benefit premium0 -
You are awarded a disability premium if you have a working age claim and are not on ESA(IR) or ESA(C) and you are sight impaired, blind or have recently regained your sight OR you receive one of the qualifying disability benefits.
PIP
Disability element or severe disability element of WTC
Any benefit which is treated as attendance allowance
Any armed forces independence payment
War pensioners mobility supplement
Also, if someone is blind or sight impaired they will not have any non-dep deductions.
This is what I am referring to.

you are misunderstanding what that means.
it isn't an extra cash amount, but an applicable amount.
it means that your household income can be higher before they start to reduce housing benefit.
it doesn't mean that they pay housing benefit at a higher rate0 -

I know exactly what it means. It might affect their HB entitlement, it all depends on their income. It could be that it will not have any affect on their HB if they are receiving their max LHA rate (or whatever their tenancy is).
I think its wrong to say that it will not have any effect on their entitlement when we don't know this persons exact circumstances.:rotfl:0 -

this thread is about the OP's mother.
she doesn't have any additional household income, in fact the complete opposite.
you need to make it clear that you are elaborating on a point rather than answering the question posed at the beginning of the thread0 -

I know, hence why I said she could not that she definately would get extra help! As it has been stated previously she would not be classed as sight impared anyway so the whole thing is pointless.:rotfl:0
