Payable order hmrc

Hi everyone,

i lived and worked in the UK, i left back home(Slovakia). I just got payable order from hmrc self assestment. The thing is i can't get money on my account from slovakia. I asked everywhere what to do. noone knew. So what ae your suggestions ? Do i have to go to UK ?

It is just like a cheque. Your Slovakian bank should be able to deal with it and pay the funds into your account, but there will be a charge and there may be a delay. If the cheque is a small amount it may not be worthwhile.

Do you still have a UK bank account, if you do you could post it to your UK bank, let them pay it in and then transfer it to Slovakia.

You may be able to ask HMRC to cancel the order and make a direct payment, but I think they can only pay to UK bank accounts so you may need to see if they are able to pay to someone else, if there is someone in the UK who you trust that is willing to help.

If it is only a small amount it is probably not worth the hassle.

yes i still have my UK bank. it's barclays. how can i do it ? post it to my bank ?

Send a completed deposit slip (in your cheque book, if you had one) to the address of your local UK Barlcays branch. If you don't have a cheque book, write your account number and sort code and post this to your local branch of Barlcays, and include a note asking for this to be deposited to your account.

If you have the app, and the payable order is below £100, you may be able to deposit it via your phone (taking a picture), but I don't think this is working just yet
