Apologies for the thread title, I have a schoolboys sense of humour and couldn't resist
I bought a burger press a few weeks back and tried a suggested recipe of mixing 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 2 tablespoons of Lea and Perrins with a finely chopped onion into a 1lb of lean mince. Which I thought sounded pretty nice, after tasting the results I am less than impressed as it tastes pretty bland and there dont seem to be any suggested recipe's in the sorted threads so I wondered if anyone had any for burgers?
Stuart.

Hi, Stuart!
I add a lot of finely chopped veg to mine (green/red pepper, celery,
sweetcorn, onion, garlic, carrot). I then add a pinch of chilli powder, plenty of black pepper.
Alternatively, try this thread - HM burgers.
Now, burger off

There is a meatball recipe in the OS index. You could certainly make these into beef burger shapes. Click here£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

Lean mince is the problem, you still need a little fat in the mince to work with some kind of flavour. I know there is mince and mince. Lean is healthy but bland, cheap is just bad stuff, try the mid-range.0

I have an old recipie my mum cut from a newspaper years ago. I never measure, just put in as much as I think I need
Minced beef
finely chopped onion
1/2 packed french onion soup mix (don't know why, but it works)
Egg
Tabasco
Worcestershire Sauce
Garlic Salt
Mix up and cook slowly in a covered fying pan. Turn 1/2 way through. Top with american sliced cheese and serve on toasted buns. Yum. Think I may make this later now!0 -

When im making sausages, burgers...when i have the mix, i cook a little piece in a frying pan...then you can taste it and make sure it tastes how you want it....and if not you can adjust to suit...-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
I used my burger press and used lamb mince, added chopped onions, garlic and mint sauce. It was lovely.0

Mince beef mix it with egg and a packet of dried french onion soup0

Yup, the fat in the mince makes all the difference.
I add a squirt of tomato puree, same of garlic puree, a dash of tabasco, a sprinkle of dried chives and salt & pepper to my mince (Sorry, we're not too strong on exact measurements in this house!). Try not to overcook them either.0 -
Oooh,, thats two votes for the onion soup mix - anyone who has a packet in the cupboard, what are the (pronouncable) ingredients?0

Thanks I will give them a try on the next batch, gives me a few ideas to try especially about not using lean mince
I probably will have to pass on the Onion Soup mix as I am a celiac and very few packet soups are gluten free.0
