Hi all, after following tutorial on my other post to speed up XP (which mow works a treat!) my speakers have stopped working. It's 2 small speakers that plug to back of base unit...I don't think my AOC monitor has built in speakers.

I've checked the connection to back of base unit-it's fine-& green light is on at the front of speakers. Have gone to control panel & 'speakers & audio devices' but many of the settings are greyed out.

The only thing I can think off is that as per the tuturiol I've disabled ALL in the 'services.msc' tab as advised on tutorial. Any ideas?

you've disabled the audio service, if you've disabled ALL the services in msconfig, you plum.... the tutorial LISTS the things to disable, not ALL of them!! :D

Gunjack-which one is the audio-any idea?

Maybe I misunderstood this ' start, run, services.msc, disable these services. (make a note of any services you disable, if you have any problems related to these services subsequently, simply re-enable them)'.

re-read the post - it says disable these services, then there's a list starting on the next line... "these services" refers to the list ;)
