(droping like flys )help on holiday illness

been on a two week holiday to spain to be told on ariving by a holiday maker that every body was droping like flys due to an ill ness bug, so i got prepared watched what me and my son ate drank, washed are hands all the things you do to avoid this bug. well low and behold four days later we got it sick dizzey lifeless and more, managed to get through but felf week and couldnt eat for days so lost four to five days of are holiday. in this hotel on every floor every one was getting this bug you couldnt get away from it every one you spoke to had had it or some one in there party had it it was totaly out of control. i spoke as others did to the reps asking what was going on to be told this has been going around this place for years, alarm bells rang so i asked at the local chemist how many people come for medication for this hotel, there reply was that hotel keeps us in buisness and has done for years, i also grabed the doctor who vists this hotel every day, and he is called every day three or four times a day and has done so for years well i was in shock. some people were admited to hospital and having spoke to one that had been in hospital was told that the ward was full of people from are hotel, now surely the travel agents should not be selling holidays to this place untill it has been sorted? what are my rights to compensation etc can any one help.

Well if they have had a rep for this...The people you booked this holiday thru should know about it because I'm sure you aren't the first to complain about it and the company should have taken this hotel OFF their list of Accom. for people to stay at!

thanks for this and yes the reps took every ones names flight numbers etc to log with head office but thay said we do it every year. and i think thay will have complaints coming out of there ears, and also my husband is still not well and we are back in the uk. do i complain to thomsons or is there a higher place i can complain to ?

CALL Thomsons and if the person you talk to can't help...ask to speak to the manager..or whoever is in charge. I'm sure there is a higher up but my mind is coming up blank

You might be thinking of ABTA, but I think the HSE and/or the police need to be involved.

As for why the Spanish health and safety / law enforcement authorities have not stopped this, either nobody has told them (including the doctors involved) or they know and are turning a blind eye. I would consider involving the Spanish police, the media, your MP, one of your MEPs and the foreign minister.

How about telling us the name and location of the hotel, so we don't go there???

Oh..if the media gets a hold of it..that should wake em up. Also you should put it on https://www.holidaywatchdog.com

thay i think are turning a blind eye i was told that its the brits that have brought it in, that made me cross as this hotel doesnt just have brits, there are all countrys booking this hotel french spanish germans people from belgium, italy etc. im on the case it aslo was the beach club hotel in torremolinos spain so beware.

ive done it on holiday watchdog, holidays uncovered, and even wrote to gmtv, as well as thomsons, the beach club in torromonlinos in costa del sol spain, i hope every body i spoke to on holiday does the same as we all did talk about doing so but havent seen any other reviews yet. ive seen also on a web site this place was a problem with a bug in 2002. bad saved for a whole year to go on holiday to be ill.
