Hi just a quick one really.
I was just involved in a incident, long and short I was driver braked for a vehicle coming from the right and a van hit me from the rear.
We exchanged details had a look around and there looks to be no damage to either vehicle.
covo with the other driver was fine, he did mention we cant be sure if any thing is damaged under neither which is fine and valid. he asked what are you going to do about it my response was well..... we have exchanged details they both look fine i'm happy to leave it, but you do what you need to do.
he did ask for a drink out of it also.
I don't want to make a claim, not sure weather he is.
I have called my insurance more to provide information should they be contacted. Not with the intention of claiming, but the call feels like it being treated as a claim.
they have said i'm not at fault but needs the other drivers details to contact there insurance.
have I don't the right thing considering I don't believe the other person wants to claim.

You have done everything correctly as far as your insurer is concerned.
Whatever the third party does is irrelevant.
But you ought to get your car checked out as there is often hidden damage in a rear end shunt.
In which case you will be making a claim ( off the third party!)0 -
Right yeah im going to have that looked at as its going in anyway.
do you think this will effect my policy in anyway?0 -
All incidents can affect your future premium if that's your question.0

Usually the person behind you is at fault as they should have left enough distance behind you to stop should you brake for any reason.
Get your car checked as sometimes damage can be difficult to spot. I remember thinking only my bumper was slightly damaged but when you looked inside the boot you could see where the force had continued and dented the internal structure.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -

^^ This.
The bumper brackets can sometimes be damaged (they are designed to absorb some impact and not deform) and may not perform as well if it were to happen again.
If there is damage, approach the 3rd party insurer in the first instance, they will (if 100% their policyholders fault) will want to help you as much as they can to save their costs. Get your insurance involved and they will add their admin costs to the bill as well as the repair costs.0 -
He's got a blummin cheek if he asked for a drink out of it.
He is 100 per cent to blame and he will know this. He will also be cropping himself hoping you dont
contact your insurane company. Presumably he has an employer and he will have to pay the excess or if he is the van owner, he will have to pay the access and his future premiums will rise.
You have done absolutely nothing wrong. And whiplash has a nasty trick of starting up next day after you have had a nights sleep.
Good luk.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Neck problems can take even longer to emerge.
I had what seemed a light rear end shunt and felt fine, though somewhat shaken, but a couple of hours later a pre-existing condition was causing increased problems so I was taken to A&E. My neck was stiff, but actually did the exercises suggested by the doctor, even while waiting to see her, but she suggested seeing my neurologist.
Next day my neck was fine, but two weeks later, I had a sudden jolt of pain and couldn't move my neck. This wore off and except for the odd ache I noticed no more problems with my neck, anyway.
My neurologist asked all kinds of questions and decided to examine my neck. He pointed out, what I hadn't noticed ie that I had little lateral movement (not noticed, as I tend to move my body to look round, due to another problem) and on standing, my legs completely gave way.
He says there is a problem which must be investigated and I'm waiting for an MRI appointment.0 -
