Barclaycard payments?

in Credit cards
A good friend of mine owed £5,000 on her Barclaycard costing her £100 per month in interest, she was made redundant from work and decided to pay off the credit card balance.
Barclaycard would not allow her to do this!! I was confused when she told me, so I aplied for a Barclaycard and spent £140 on it in the first month and registered for online for payments, when my bill was due I went online to pay it gave me an option of paying the "minimum" amount but also a "maximum" amount, when I tried to pay off the ballance of £140 I received a message saying "you are trying to pay too much" try again!!!
My friend was told she would have to register her Debit card and wait for 3 months before they would accept the full amount of £5,000.
How can they do this???

but you can pay the full amount over the counter at any bank, by phone banking if you have it and by internet banking via BACS or by setting up a DD.0

If you have online banking then you can pay it via that with no problem. I always pay my barclaycard like this and can choose the amount I pay.0
