Parking ticket at college parking

I was given a parking ticket by PCN in a college car park which was free from 4.30 and the ticket was given at 4.23. I ignored all letters thinking it be unfair, now I have received a notice for court. I am worried that should pay the 200 odd pounds. I have read a few threads here but am really confused about what I should do. Any help is greatly received. the notice to keeper was sent one month after ticket issued. This same car park used to be free after 3pm and then changed its hours. The letter is from CSB solicitors asking for court fee, £25, legal costs £50, and amount claimed £164. Any help will be greatly received.

Which parking firm? There isn't one called 'PCN'.

And what exactly have you had - a Letter before Claim?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • On my letter it say PCN parking solutions and PCN NW limited. the claim letter I have received says county court business centre and the court address is money claims online. The reason is for not displaying a valid ticket. IT says that if I do not file an application within. 14 days of date of filing this acknowledgement, it will be assumed you accept the courts jurisdiction and judgment may be entered against you.

I am not sure what it is

it is an MCOL issued on behalf of PCN (NW) LTD (the parking company) and is a court claim under the small claims court system , so is an active court claim and you are now the defendant (a bit like Judge Rinder)

if you acknowledge it online (and save the login details for the future) you get an extra 14 days to put together your defence

please read the court section in the newbies sticky thread, read the bargepole thread linked from there , read todays bargepole thread about what is good or bad about peoples defence arguments, lastly read the parking pranksters court guide too

  • Do I say that I will not pay any of the fine or do I say that I will pay some. IN this case is it better to say that I will pay some because I did not have a valid permit, even though there were only 7 minutes left before the parking became free. Thanks in advance
