Charging Clause in Will

Thank you - good to know where we stand on that issue. The solicitors weren't supposed to charge, that's what had been specified, but they charged us anyway and I wanted to know if the Charging Clause omission was a legal requirement to charge before I spoke to them.0

Did you read Crabapple's reply above? Solicitors don't usually do work for free, and it would seem they can do so without the clause in the will.0 -
So they promised to deal with an old colleagues estate for free then hit the family with a bill?
Legally they can charge as above, morally they shouldn't. From your point of view, do you have anything in writing confirming the agreement?:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

Thanks Crabapple, no, I was told verbally by the old colleague - he didn't mention omitting the charging clause, just said that they would complete the executor duties free of charge which is why he'd removed me as an executor.
I'm going to leave it, I don't want to drag it out further
Thanks for making my position more clear.0
