Parking fine

I received a parking ticket from LPS for parking at my place of work (hospital). I pay for the car parking monthly anyway, there is never enough spaces for the people that work there and i am often forced to park in the patient car parks which are very expensive. When I received the parking ticket I had parked in a car share bay which is only for people that hold a car share permit - which i don't have. People holding a regular car parking pass can park there from 10am-6pm. I parked there because there were no other available spaces and I was given a parking ticket. I ignored the first few letters asking me to pay the charge and now I have received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus asking me to pay £160 otherwise they could take court action, should I ignore this or should I pay it??
