Cost of Will + LPA ?

Hi ,
Can anyone please give me some advice.
My Mother had an appointment concerning her first Will , she was quoted £100 on the phone for a basic one but came back with a draft bill of £445 ( +£25 per year to hold the Will) .
The bill reads :
Single will - £100
Single LPA - £135
Single LPA Registration - £210 + Court fee ( if applicable ) .
Her next appointment is in 4 weeks to get everything finalised and witnessed.
Is the price about right for the services offered ?
I know that a LPA is very important but is it something she could do herself .
She is a retired widow of 65 and wishes to leave to her estate to her three Children .
Any help would be much appreciated

Fees look about right to me. Not sure I'd want them to hold the documents if they're going to charge. Buy a fireproof box instead.
I'm not convinced DIY LPA is a good idea and you'd still have the court fees.0 -
Thanks for information .
Just could not work out why she is charged twice for the LPA , £135 + £210 for registering , Is the £210 the charge for filling out the forms and submitting them ?0 -
We did two LPA's for my Dad. One was for finance, one for health and welfare I think. It costs £110 to register one, though his income was low enough he was able to do both for that price. The LPA was very simple to do ourselves online. We also did his will through one of the MSE links. He'd been quoted over £1000 from a solicitors - cost us less than £150 DIY.0

I will contact the solicitor on Monday and hopefully be able to cancel the LPA ( it has not been sen yet ) and storage and go ahead with the basic Will in 3 weeks time .
Thanks for everyones input
