Can you offer an other explanation then?

    No - not at all.

    Leaking hot water tap somewhere?

How often, and for how long does the boiler fire for, (when the heating is off) and pre-heat is on?

    Edit.
Faulty boiler where HW tank is overflowing into a drain??

In any case I would contact boiler manufacturer for an explanation of your problem.
  • We normally have the preheat timed to come on during the day as we use a lot of hot water.

I went on holiday for 12 days and when I came back 8 m3 units (90kWh) of gas had been used.

I had thought that even although the heating was set to 12 deg C it had got cold enough for the heating to come on.

This was at the beginning of October.

Now I know that it was the pre heat function, which I have now switched off and am using at least 11 kWh of gas less a day.

I contacted the installer and he said that is why he turns the pre heat off.

Also not to let my wife do the dishes :D as she was probably rinsing the dishes in hot water.
over 73 but not over the hill.
