I need to replace all 4 tyres on my 2011 VW Eos.
235 45 R 17 94 W
Currently fitted with Continental Sport Contact 3's.
Local ATS has ContiSportContact 5's at £100.50 each.
Costco have Michelin Primacy 3's at £78.58 after discount.
Both prices include fitting and balancing.
Any thoughts?

If they were both the same price, I'd go for the Michs. Given that they're 20% cheaper, no-brainer - £100 isn't a terrible price for the Contis, but £80 is a very good one for the Michs.

They're both the absolute top-notch brands, imho, but my personal experience is that Contis tend to wear a bit faster.0 -
I've just replaced tyres with Michelin crossclimate, stick like glue, work as winter tyres, supposed to last 5,000 extra miles, worth considering. Available from Black Circles, of get Kwikfit to price match0

As above, I have just put Crossclimate on my car. Feels like a limpet on the road. Bought mine from Blackcircles, best price I could find & brilliant service.

The Michelin Crossclimate tyres don't come up on Blackcircles for my size of tyre so perhaps not available?0

Not sure about your size. Maybe go for the Michelin Primacy 3 then. seems like a good deal.

If it's a low mileage car (up to 6k) then buy Contis. If you drive 10-12k+ then go for Michelins. Wear rate on Contis isn't as good as Michelins. The man without a signature.0

I do about 9000 miles per year. Contis on the front last 2.5 years, back just over five years hence need to replace all four this time around.0 -

I see no reason for you to change brand. That's a good mileage from your Contis - I wouldn't expect much more (if any) from Michelins.0 -

I would say the reason for change is the £87.00 saving that is to be made by buying the michelins
both tyres are very good tyres but are the contis worth £87.00 more just to be brand loyal0 -

It would also depend on how the OP wants to use the performance of the Eos.
We are not comparing like for like here.
The two tyres are not directly comparable - they are quite different in their target market - the ContiSportContact 5 is a Max Performance tyre aimed at enthusiastic sporty drivers and cars, whereas the Michelin Primacy 3 is a Premium Touring tyre with admittedly good roadholding, but no pretentioins of being a 'high performer'.
A more comparable tyre would be the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 which comes in way below the Conti in most tyre tests - because of the high rate of wear.

The price difference is no surprise - perhaps the OP could get a quote for a set Conti Premium Contact 5s which are in the same category as the Michelin Primacy 3.

But the bottom line for me is that VW fitted the car with high performance CSC 3 tyres not just the normal premium ones.
