Some problems in tenancy, how would you react?

And I wouldn't have provided Wifi, but would have charged less for the room, and told you to sort it yourselves.
Something like this :
First off thanks, just so it doesn't seem I am ungreatful but I already had knowledge of that sort of thing, my original idea was to get the homeplugs and put the router in its original location which is in corner of living room so that way the back of house including living room and kitchen got good signal, then homeplug into hallway where router is now and have a spare router as a range extender.
That way the whole house would have signal, theres a possibility that there might still be some problems in the middle in the sense everywhere will get a signal but that doesn't mean everywhere will have full speed.
My secondary idea was have a cheap wifi range extender in the middle to boost that.
That way the whole house has a strong signal and full internet speed. No one is being nasty. But with all due respect your complaints come across as whiney and quite frankly you seem reluctant to alleviate any of them yourself.
You say no one is being nasty, then you say I am being whiney you also say I am not a mature person and "precious"
What you have assumed is I have not tried sorting these issues myself, and failed to realise the meaning of what I said, even though I said at the start it was a bit of a rant,
In other words I was just getting things off my chest.
Also I did try and contact LL a few times but hes out of the country, not just over this but the downstairs shower failed to work, and our heating didn't work for a few weeks, by time he came back someone else had already told him about those issues so he sorted them, then it kept slipping my mind or I just tolerated it.
I was thinking of emailing him and mentioning the things like internet as a side thing and mention about the light and if there was a way to change it (as all I have in my room is a on/off switch and what looks like a fusebox.
Yes I could take it out before class, but it will still be dark then and I will be so out of it in morning plus I am in a rush anyway.
Still you haven't explained why I am "precious" when you don't know anything about me than what I posted, to let you know I have worked in factories before doing night shifts and never complained, did my original training at college years ago and never complained (and I was more "precious" back then to let you know)
All I have done is when people have said why don't you do X I have said why, or why don't you just accept it.
Well for the booster thing wouldn't it make more sense either if everyone chipped in, and at most people are saying its ok for 2 people to do what they want because they want better than they have because it only affects me, but if I move it back then it seems people think that would be wrong of me which means they are siding with the people who did something without thinking about other people, and also thinking its ok to have 2 cables across the floor which people can trip over
Anyway just as I was about to post someone has replied, about the noise one of tenants is a student nurse and her bedroom is right next to the garden and against the living room wall of the neighbour, the very first night she was here she burst into tears and told me she had 1 hours sleep that night and decided to go home and miss freshers. and since then goes home every weeknd as she can't stand living there due to noise.0 -
Sorry but I do think you are being defeatist. Already explained how to get cable under carpet without lifting it. Done it myself.
When its the only way, you find a way.
Same for changing a light bulb lol. You want light, you DO get up early. And I'm sorry, but in class hours aren't generally long when you are in university. Or you can buy a cheap torch from a pound shop if you have to. Or pay a handyman to do it.., but student budgets don't generally run to that, well not in my day anyway. maybe you think the LL should get a flight over here to do it himself?
Some LL's will do repairs, some won't. Then you have to decide if you want to moan about it, find a way to get the LL to do it, or do it yourself.
Advise the student nurse to wear head phones playing something that won't keep her awake but will help distract her ears from the noise next door. I know this because again, I have had to do it. Even the most aggressive builder can't be making earth shattering noise all day every day 6am -10pm. Its not ideal, but it can't be as bad as you are claiming every single day. She also won't be working nights as much as she works days. I assume the builders aren't working at 2am as well? If she can't resolve the problem, I'm afraid she will have to sleep on someone's floor when doing nights. Not ideal but the only solution if you can't/won't get the council to do anything.0 -
It all started wrong with your title. Your problems, which you admit yourself are minor, have nothing to do with your tenancy but with your accommodation that don't meet your expectations. As you say, the property doesn't meet your needs.
The problem is that it is not the LL's responsibility to meet your needs when you clarify months after moving in what these needs are. Your error was to sign a 9 months contract if you knew you had specific needs and were not totally sure at this point that the property would suit you.
All you can do is make the best of it, and just inform your LL that if anyone at the other house express an interest in swapping, you would be up for it.0
