I was going to ask in similar threads but they've been closed now.

My first 30p credit card transaction has been written off rather than being taken from my account, does anyone know if this is counted differently in terms of credit report? As I've taken out credit but not shown I can repay it (so presumably won't improve anything?)
Mortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0
Cashback sites: £900 | £30k in 2016: £30,300 (101%)

I had 3 bars of white chocolate (30p each) and 1 pack of white buttons. Paid for 3 of them with TSB (5% cashback) then the last bar with credit card (to have some spending in the month)

How do you know that it has been written off and simply hasn't come through yet? Tbh I'm surprised that you were even allowed to use a CC for 30p

I don't think 30p spending each month will exactly show lenders that you can borrow and be trusted to pay it back each month! Stop being ridiculous and use your credit card properly.
    :p

It has a transaction "Small balance write off".
Not very MSE of you to suggest I give up a 5% discount

Why not put a reasonable amount on there? Even if it's just a tank of petrol, or when you've picked up a few small food items? It's ridiculous to spend just 30p on a credit card, and as mentioned above, I'm shocked you were even allowed to.

Why's it ridiculous? Loads of vending machines and things take cards nowadays. If you're allowed to use the card then why not? Contactless is often faster than cash.

Is this an RBSG card (or maybe even Tesco if they're still using RBS back-end)? If so, there was a poster on here some years ago who exploited this further. They always left a 99p balance, ie paid 99p short of the full amount each month. Worth £12 a year if you can be bothered...personally I can't.

Careful YB, or you might find your MSE star status downgraded:p

    All about cost/benefit!

I wouldn't have gone for Co-op Everyday Rewards if it wasn't for the £100 switching incentive (which I shouldn't have been entitled to, but that's another story :D). And that's also why I don't have Barclays Blue Rewards. I will, though, if ever they have another incentive offer.

Surely not paying in full would incur interest on the full balance.
