Synchronising Pendrive and PC specific folders

Hi, I’d like to install some software (free if possible) that would allow me to synchronise the data on my usb pendrive and PC, ensuring the pen drive contains a mirror image of the PC folders. I want to synchronise specific folders rather than the whole drive.
Or alternatively does anyone have ideas on how to set this up?
I’m using Windows XP.

Use the Briefcase feature, right click then choose New -> Briefcase from the menu to create one. You should place it on your pen drive and drag your folders to it. It works in both directions.0 -
+1 for SyncToy
Easy to set up, I use it to backup My Documents + Thunderbird .
There are instructions, admittedly not very obvious, to set it up in conjunction with Task Scheduler so that it Syncs automatically.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
I use Synctoy now. Even though it doesn't have all the advanced settings of Syncback, I found it does a better job at keeping track of files and keeping the files I want and deleting the files I don't
You can create a shortcut that will do a specific sync by creating a shortcut to Synctoy and then replacing the "Target" field from for example:
"C:\Program Files\Synctoy\SyncToy.exe"
to
"C:\Program Files\Synctoy\SyncToy.exe" -R"name of folder pair"
Getting a little bit more advanced -
I use portableApps Suite and (for now) the only way you can add something to the menu is by placing an exe in a certain folder so I used Autohotkey to make one and that way I have it on the menu.
...but that's probably more advanced than you want/need
