how much to expect to pay for replacing a lintel

we're buying a house that has a crack above a patio door due to the lintel being two small.

we need it to be replaced but need an idea of how much we'll expected to pay.

Impossible to say without seeing the work involved. A guess at a figure would be £2000.

The patio door should be removed. Is it any good and suitable for re - installing or do you need to add another £1000 here?

Remember the lintel needs a design, so Structural Engineers fees there, then Buildings Regulations fees and it will have to be inspected. A builder needs to open up the wall, prop the existing work, build in the new lintel, match in brickwork and/or render, sort out the patio door, plus plaster, decorate and make good all internal works. (A new patio door should also have Regulations approval - so possibly more admin and cost.)

All in not a simple, quick job.
