The owner of the current property has sold the house to the parents via a solicitors agreement. My partner and her sister will be the new owners so no transfer etc.

If your gf and her sister are to own the property then it will have to be transferred from their parents to them otherwise their parents will still own it.

Do your gf and her sister want to be landlords? Do they understand what it entails?

I wonder what the parents are trying to achieve with this convoluted setup....

Could your gf say, "Thanks but no thanks. I don't want to be a landlord or own this property?"

and what if one sister gets married? Then divorced? And ex-hubby claims part of the property?

There are so many completely dodgy aspects to this set up that it is hard to know where to begin. And I suspect that your gf, (and probobly her sister and parents) have no real idea what they are doing, what the implications are, or even what they are trying to achieve.

other way round. One works up from a mere hobnob, to cake, so that should be "perhaps cake if hobnob won't suffice".

I don't think any agreements have taken place yet, i think they are still sorting all the paperwork. The plan was for the sisters to deal with it now, so be on the deeds and mortgage 50/50. It is seen as an investment for them. I have to agree its a bit stupid.

I think there thinking was to buy one and then leave it to them in their will, but they have to pay SDLT as its there 2nd home. So they thought why not help them purchase one now as an investment. But that will obvs have implications on there future ability to purchase a house individually?

You think its stupid, imagine how i feel......ha
