Disposing of old gas hob at the tip

Is it free to do so? Or is it something that varies, council by council ?

  • It's free at my local tip, bit if you leave it on the end of the drive the metal fairies take it.

Haha, yes this is true. May be an option!

If they're a decent council, they should have the tip functioning as a recycling centre, divided into (say) scrap metal, landfill, small electricals, large electricals, paper, glass, etc.

It should be free for residential recyclers. My local has restrictions on trade vehicles.

They do, indeed. That'll do, saves £20 getting currys to take it away when they install new one.

Have you no scrap metal merchants nearby who will take it away for you?

I'm awaiting a delivery of a new cooker and my old one will go the same way as my old washer did. Via the local scrap metal merchant. He doesnt charge.

Be aware that you might actually need a properly registered person to disconnect it
