Economy 7 to standard meter swap help!?
Hi all just hoping someone can help me!
Sorry maybe abit long but bear with 😊
Ok so back in Dec last year I swapped from storage heaters on economy 7 to a standard gas combi boiler.
All well up till I gave my first meter readings they told me to swap my meter to a standard one but the energy company failed to explain to me what they ment so I canceled the engineer.
Fast forward to now and iv had 3 different people all from the energy company saying to either swap my meter then don't swap!
I'v even had a word with a lovely lady from warm home discount team explain to also swap meters...
I was ment to have it changed over yesterday waited in for no one to turn up I call they apologise and have told me I'd be better to stay with the e7 meter and gave me a comparison.
This is the the thing though I have just signed upto utilita with the intention of having my Meter swapped to standard and they came up £200 more expensive on e7 rates But cheaper on standard rate!
I'm so confused what to do?! 🙈🤔
Help please

If you are within the cooling off period, you could cancel with utilta and switch to a company that just adds the two readings together so no need for a meter change. I believe that EON and BG do this, there may be others.0

No one can tell you, because we don't know what your E7 day/night usage split is with gas CH in place. The night usage should of course have dropped dramatically.
Typically, you would need to be using at least 33% of the total on night rate to make E7 cheaper than single rate. You've had the CH in for 11 months, so go back through your bills since then, work out pro-rata your new annual kWh consumption, and then put the figures into a comp site, once for E7 and once for single rate.
If you were already using say less than 50% on night rate, then almost certainly you will now be below 33% and so E7 is uneconomic. However it all depends what E7 tariff you are on-the rates vary considerably from supplier to supplier. No free lunch, and no free laptop
