That's good of you 2madcollies! Apparently our large Asda had a good supply of plant milk today so maybe things are gradually getting better :/

  • 2madcollies, that's a really lovely and generous offer -thank you 😁 Norfolk to Exeter would be a trek though! 😉
Thankfully, I no longer need to be concerned - absolutely out of the blue today Suma arrived!!!! 🙌 I have no idea what has happened  - I sent them a pretty harsh email on Monday after they'd told me they'd made my account dormant and weren't delivering so it's a bit of a shock!! 😂 A number of things weren't available  (pasta and loo roll along with all frozen and chilled stuff I'd ordered) but I have a good selection of staples now and won't need to worry for a while 😁 I also have an order coming either today or tomorrow from the ethical superstore as I thought my Suma order was dead in the water! 🙈 Not a massive one though so it's not an issue....
Savvy, I'm also not certain that the interest in veganism will keep its momentum with the current situation- I just really hope that the restaurants don't revert back to how they were as I enjoyed being able to eat out!
  • squirrelgirl, wow!  Your choice of words in your email resonated with them, I think!  Glad that you're sorted :) Does that mean you've got 4 of everything now?! :D
Stay safe, everyone - I'm off to work now, at Royal Mail :o
  • Hi, just to let you know that Good Club are now accepting new customers!  If you apply through my referral link they will send a food parcel to a food bank :D.  Here's the link: https://goodclub.co.uk/j/katektbw35

Lots more than 4!!! 😂 cupboards are groaning now and I'm grateful - although dd is still able to shop, I think that it may be a while before anything gets back to even vaguely normal and there could be shortages still in the months ahead 😔
Thanks for the link! I must admit that I will probably keep using suma - although they didn't handle things well, they came through in the end - mind you they may not want to deal with me again! 😉😂
Garden wise, nothing has progressed further - ds has been busy this week with other things but I'm hoping I can get a bit more done at the weekend- if nothing else , I'll clear out the weeds from where he's dug up so far and get that cleared ready for sowing 😁

Anyway, better get on - have a lovely bank holiday weekend and stay safe!!
  • I'm still no further on with the garden 🙈 I am struggling to motivate myself for anything at the moment- I think I'm just in a slump as I'm struggling with not seeing my grandbaby 😔 however, tomorrow is another day and I'm going to try to do 15mins at least - I've got all the seeds I need and I really don't want to completely miss the boat....
I'm really in need of some glass for the greenhouse- normally we get it from a glass company but I can't imagine they will be open at the moment so I will have a mooch online to see if I can find somewhere locally that can cut some to size, let me pay online or over the phone and pick it up from a safe place on their premises - otherwise I have no idea on what I can do - I know that I could buy some plastic but that's really not what I want to be doing!
Anyway, not a lot else to report - hope everyone is staying safe! 😉

I have a whole greenhouse-worth of glass in my garage @squirrelgirl but I have a feeling Hampshire might be a bit far for you to travel for it!
  • A very generous offer greenbee and very much appreciated 😁 but you're correct - it's a bit of a drive from Norfolk! 😉
I've checked out all glass companies within my area and although many of them are open for emergency glass replacement, none are available for general stuff...I think that I'm just going to have to cover the holes from the missing panes with bin sacks for now to keep in the heat - thankfully there are only 2 panes missing on the west side of the greenhouse so I won't lose too much light - not ideal but needs must as they say! 😉

If only I was going to visit my mum...
  • Unfortunate that you are unable to for so many reasons greenbee! 😔 hope all is well though and you're managing to stay in touch virtually!
Many conversations going on in other parts of the forum at the moment about future purchasing choices (including the odd one or two which are concerning 😔) and I hope that one of the better things that will arise as a result of this pandemic will be a shift to more ethical purchasing in the future.  Admittedly, I'm not too hopeful- in my experience, people tend to have pretty short memories - but it would be nice to think that more thought will be given to the production and supply of goods.
I think that there is a lot less food waste at the moment (anecdotal evidence only) which has got to be a good thing - I know that it's something my own kids are getting more to grips with (I've been banging on about it for years but obviously listening to mum isn't the thing to do 😉😂) so hopefully it will continue post-plague and they'll be able to spend less and eat better!
I have finally admitted defeat - I was really hoping to grow as much veg as possible this year but I just haven't had the time/motivation to sort the garden - ds started doing a bit then changed job so that went out of the window- so I'm going to get in touch with a local gardener today and see if he can get it sorted when he's back up and running. It may be far too late to do much sowing when it's finally done but hopefully it will help him out with his business and give me some winter veg 😉
