Oh no I hope he's okay! Yes elderly are so stubborn my ex bfs grandad was the same wouldn't let anyone go into his house to touch anything despite being to frail to move !!
Okay so I got the survey results back.. £0.
In my heart I think I knew that would happen ? Hence the copious amounts of anxiety and you all warned me but I just... had some small hope *sigh*
The broker said the comments just said it has no heating so its not habitable. Nothing even about it being above a shop or a studio? So he doesnt know if theres any more underlying issues they just haven't recorded and he's rang up halifax and said they have written him a letter to send to the surveyor requesting if the electrical work for heating is done would it be re-valued at ANYTHING at all? Or if it's just 0.. think the surveyors just don't think the lenders should lend on it.
In the mean time.. an estate agents from croydon rang me just before this news telling me there's new builds on the DL for £160,000 for a studio flat in a converted office in town? There's 19 and since this morning 10 have been booked he's telling me to get in there quick to have a look. Maybe I should just go check it out is that a sign?.... what a mess!0 -

Chin up. Quiet time at the mo anyway. I'm looking too and there's been naff all on for months. I've not viewed anything for weeks/months.
Wouldn't buy a new build, but plenty do. Often you pay a premium. Also wouldn't buy a studio, but again some do.
Give us your absolute necessities/requirements/price and I'll have a look. Where do you need to get to for work? Might find an area you'd not considered.

Aw thank you really I've been let down a lot in the past several months so I've gotten use to failing repeatedly lol. I'm disappointed and upset but I'm positive. Onwards and upwards.
Thats really kind of you I'm sending you good e-karma.
Learning from this experience requirements: CENTRAL HEATING (lol) and ideally somewhere near any station within zone 6. My main budget is 155K (its low but its my personal budget) but I can go up to 175K from help but I'd rather do it alone.
I work next to piccadilly station and I've been looking at mainly norwood junction/selhurt/thornton health/croydon and woolwich/plumstead/belvedere/thamesmead. I would prefer these kind of more urban areas than the likes of Dartford area. I looked in barking briefly but I heard they use to vote BNP it disturbed me a little bit.
Yeah I definitely new builds never appealed to me before but I'm open to anything if it's available. This other EA rang me just before I got the call from broker of bad news and I'm just thinking... its a huge coincidence I'm going to go look at the plans tonight and see how that goes. My broker wants me to wait until monday for response form the surveyor but I don't want to miss a good opportunity. The screenshots look like some bachelorette pad i would never in my life think I would live in it's like all new and fancy like a hotel.
Where abouts are you looking? Are you selling and moving onto a bigger place?0 -
It can be disheartening. It took me a year once to sell/buy - lost two along the way. My buyer hung on.
On first glance on RM, it's going to be very hard with your budget though!
You've got lots of lines you could use and walk to Piccadilly so that's a huge bonus, although you've been outpriced pretty much everywhere.
Might want to consider Ilford if you can walk to Gants Hill station - both used to be very desirable, but not so much now (still, would rather live there than East Ham or similar).
I'm in North Chingford which is nice, but will be moving to Leigh-on-Sea as I love it. Similar size house to what we have now, maybe slightly bigger, but cheaper so might mean mortgage free, or very small.
