Apologies if this is in the wrong forum and feel free to move if so.
My parents are visiting the US at present and I wondered if it would be cheaper for them to buy Nintendo DS games out there. If so are they compatable with the UK Nintendo console?
Thanks in advance...

I don't think this can be the case actually.
I bought several Nintendo DS games whilst in the US a couple of months ago - they worked out about half the price of the UK prices for newly released titles, but less of a difference for older ones.
All work absolutely fine on my Son's DS (UK bought) as well as those of friends and family.
Also - forgot to say, my American nephews brought their consoles (gameboys and DSs) and games over when they last visited us and they happily interchanged games with my boys with no problems at all. They also borrowed my kids chargers and this worked well too.0 -
Hmmmm ok I just found out that the Nintendo DS is region free so any console will run a Nintendo DS game purchased anywhere in the world!
So geordiescouse..tell them to buy away

Nintendo DS and Gameboy games work fine on the DS. We've just come back from the US and my daughter bought several games there - all very cheap and no problems with any of them.“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

Is it worth checking the Amazon.com site to see approx prices as these would be in US$?0

the only difference between a US and a UK DS is the power supply. they dont use pal/ntsc, as they dont need to output to a TV. games are region free as well, so you can buy from anywhere in the world

What about Nintendo Wii Games. Does anybody know if games bought in the US are compatable here. If so, are there savings to be made on these?0
