I woke up this morning to find that my car had been hit by the car in front.
However, it would seem that another vehicle had hit the car in front which hot into mine and drove off.

who do i make a claim against in this situation, as it was not the car in front fault?

Got comp insurance? Let them sort it out.

But if the car that did cause it left the scene and can't be traced, then they won't be paying.

as unfair as it sounds, could i claim against the vehicle that hit my car?

i do not want to file a claim, where nothing will happen - and knowing the insurance companies they will increase my insurance i will have to state this for the next 5 years...

Yes. It may well be easier using your own, though, in this instance.

You'll have to anyway. Who you claim from makes no difference to the fact that you have been involved in a claim.

The only real difference will be who ends up footing the bill. If the insurer of either of the other cars ends up footing the bill, then it's a not-at-fault for your record.

    It will get sorted eventually

If you have comprehensive cover then this is an occasion to consider taking advantage of it

The MIB may be involved in some stage in the multiple claims this will all involve (meaning a long time to resolve liability and conclude the payouts), and even if MIB don't get used, this won't get sorted quickly and presumably you have damage you want sorting now

what confuses me is when i did an insurance quote with the claim made - ( drive not at fault, )
the claim goes up my around £44..compare not making a claim.

I would of thought that my insurance would not go up as it was not my fault.

my work colleague has mention that the insurance companies will still class me as a risk.

You live in an area where your car has been hit while parked overnight by somebody who's done a runner. If it wasn't for the other car in the middle, your insurer would be facing the bill for this.
You are a higher risk to them.

    @AdrianC - that's what i though.
The insurance company will see me a a high risk, even if i was not at fault.

Yes, they will - simply because you are.

You said it would only increase the premium by £44. If there is any noticeable damage to your car it will cost a lot more than that, probably even more than 5 years' worth.

BTW shouldn't the thread title be Three Car Collision?
