What to do about energy supply.

I hope that this is the right place to ask for advice.
We hope to move before Christmas but know that things can go wrong.
Our energy contract finishes at the end of December.
My question is should I switch to another offer with the same company which is only a couple of pounds more per month than we are paying at the moment or just wing it and hope that we have moved.
Will we have to pay exit fees when we move if we do switch?
My concern is that if the move is delayed until January then I will be switched to a higher rate with the same company.
Thanks.

Will that make any real difference for what is only going to be a few weeks if you are sure you are moving around end of the year, give or take? Unless you would be certain to want to (and be able to) port the new deal to the new house why not just wait until you've moved?0 -
Thanks....that is another thought but the way that our sale is going I wanted to review options!0

I think most companies won't charge exit fees if you move house, but it's worth double checking.
As above, you also may be able to taker a good deal with you to your new house (even if it is no longer available to the public).
If both of the above are true for your chosen tariff, then it would make sense to find the best deal - there's no risk, and if it is the best for your new house you can take it with you.0
