Obviously something on your credit file Halifax didnt like.

Did you ask for high limit ?
Any other cards your in the process of paying off ?
Any debts ?

I've had their cards on and off over the years, they've never made more than a bean out of me. I'm probably on their "zero profitability" list now.

My financial status is great, I'm pretty sure I know why it was a no as mentioned above. I'm not bothered.

Look at Santander Zero or Creation both offer similar benefits for foreign travel.

I've got one of these cards - they have strict criteria - got 3 bank accounts with them and a mortgage, almost no debts and they gave me £2k to start with! Was OK for holidays. After 6 months was able to bump up to £5k. Use it when abroad and pay back full sum as interest quite high.
