recommendations for a food processor?

Another vote for Magimix, I bought a 3100 many, many years ago and it has just stopped working:( I am trying to find an electrician to look at it to see if it is terminal or not, but no luck so far:(
If I cannot get it repaired I will be buying another one as soon as funds allow. The motor etc carries a 30 year guarantee, think mine might be just outside of this, but anyway I no longer have any proof of purchase which their website states is necessary. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. This is the modern version of the one I have had for 20 years, still going strong: http://www.braunhousehold.com/global/products/food-preparation/food-processors/tributecollection-kitchen-machine-km-3050
And maddymay - I would get in touch with them anyway. Sometimes companies like the publicity that comes with a story about it lasting 30 years etc.0 -
I've had a Kenwood food processor, which is still going strong, it's around 30 years old now. It's not used as often as it used to be, due to just being me in the house now, and having a stick blender with attachments, which is also Kenwood, but still used perhaps not every week, but several times a month.0

I have a Magimix, which I love, but recently my soup 'wand' cracked and I bought a Kenwood gadget which has a small bowl for chopping and mixing, and also has a wand for soups etc, a vegetable masher, two nice plastic storage jars with lids. To my surprise I use it far more often now than the magimix as it's easier to clean, much smaller and very efficient. Wouldn't handle big volumes of stuff but if there are only two of you I think it would be worth a look as it was much cheaper than a magimix and takes up hardly any space. HTH.0

Sounds like you have the same stick blender as me Morganlefay. Great little gadget and so easy to clean. It doesn't grate or slice vegetables like the food processor though, and something to take into consideration. That said, mine gets far more use than the food processor these days, brilliant little gadget. Think I've had mine for just over 3 years now.

That's the one anne_marie, thanks for providing link. I love mine but you're right, it doesn't slice veg and if I want to slice lots of onions I do get my Magimix out of its drawer. But I use the little Kenwood one all the time, and if it broke I'd definitely get another; combined with a v sharp knife I can now do most things without using the Magimix.0

Am much the same. In my original post about it's usage, I made a mistake as I realize that I use it almost on a daily basis.....I had forgotten about using it for blitzing nuts and seeds, which I do in small amounts as to what is needed in a recipe for veggie recipes and bread making.
I do tend to slice and grate veg with a knife / grater for daily food use, but the processor for bulk.
Doubt that I would replace the food processor now, but would the stick blender with attachments.0 -
If someone is looking for something a bit cheaper than the Kenwood Triblade blender with attachments, you could look out for the Lidl's one. Not quite as versatile as the Kenwood, but a whole lot cheaper. I bought this for my daughter, mainly to puree baby food, just after I had bought the Kenwood for me. She loved it. Can't exactly remember the price but it was under £15 at the time.
