Closed credit card listed at Settled

I'm hoping you can help me. I've closed my vanquis credit card account. I have not been in arrears, paid late or closed the account with an outstanding debt.
However, they have listed my account as settled on my credit file. After two months of ignoring me they have finally responded saying that is how they list a closed account.
This is not the information that I can find online which says settled is a negative, implying I haven't fully paid my debt.
Any advice? My score has drastically gone down and no other factors have changed!
Many thanks for you help!

Ignore the score. It's absolutely meaningless in truth, it's just a reflection of how that particular CRA sees you, and has no bearing on how lenders will view you.

If you're using Clearscore, mine also says the same thing on closed credit card accounts. I'm not sure if this is correct, but it doesn't seem to have affected my file.

    Hi,

Never trust everything you read online.

Settled means settled, it has no other meaning, and is normally used to describe a correctly settled account.

You are confusing it with "partially settled", which means the creditor accepted a lower offer to settle the debt.

Your credit file is marked correctly, as said above, ignore what the score is telling you.

  • Every single one of my closed accounts reads as 'Settled' or S on my credit report.

Check My File suggest an 'S' means "The account has been settled/closed."
  • Thanks for the help! That puts my mind at ease!
