npower - the worst company in the UK?

I certainly think so. DO NOT USE NPOWER IF YOU EXPECT TO BE PROVIDED WITH GAS OR ANY LEVEL OF SERVICE. I cannot warn people away enough.
I am now left with no heating or hot water in 1 degree frost and have no idea when this will be resolved, as my myriad complaints and requests for assistance on twitter, facebook, telephone and npower's own complaints form result in replies days later that make no sense and do not help at all. When you then reply to clarify what on earth to do, you have to wait another two days for reply. Which again does not help or makes no sense. I have never encountered such appalling service at any company in any industry in all of my 35 years.
I will be transferring to another supplier asap. Unfortunately this can take a couple of weeks so will be left with an uninhabitable home through 2-3 weeks of winter. Perhaps I should stay in a hotel and invoice npower?

You did not give any information to your problem or why you could not get them to understand, and communication on the phone since it's urgent is the only way to go.
However I can address your above point. Winter is more than 3 weeks away, you will be fine.
Please add additional information if you want advice on your main problem though.0 -
Not sure what your problem is, but a rant like that might make you feel better but it doesn't make us any wiser.
Npower are famous for being hopeless and useless, so you aren't telling us anything we didn't knowNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Please shed some light on the issue. Companies will compensate for being off supply for longer periods of time (off the top of my head 18 hours and im not in work today to double check) if it is deemed their fault and they cannot fix an issue they are liable for. However they will only do this if you report the issue in the first place so its strongly advisable to get through on the phone asap.Working within the industry, My views do not represent those of my employer and I will not comment on the reputation of any supplier.0

I have been with them on and off for the last 5 years and at the moment have only one utility with them. However in all my time I have never had an issue with them and find they are an excellent company for customer service.0 -
Worst company I've ever dealt with by a country mile!
No other company comes close.
The system they use is a complete car crash, the billing is none existent or wrong, the customer service is polite and useless, nothing ever seems to get sorted and you think it will,by the time you realise it won't get any better, the useless billing system has put you in debt and you can't leave.0 -
My limited dealings with them so far have been ok and customer services have been helpful.
They were an hour late coming to remove the gas meter at our daughter's home and on her next bill they gave her a £30 credit for 'missed appointment'.
Never knew they did such a thing.0 -
I have similar limited experience as MABLE & POPPYOSCAR
Never had any problems at all, but then I have limited contact, I just use the leccy, submit on line readings & pay the quarterly bill on demand via varable DD
