Sent off my application for passport renewal last Thursday; got my new passport today. Is that a record?

The passport office people are aware of your posting style on the Essential Money boards and want to keep out of your line of fire. So any applicant named Robert who displays reddish hair in their photo is instantly diverted to the super fast track!

How did you apply, online or on paper?

Paper. They will have received it on Friday. I got a text to say they had on Saturday. Then it arrived today - haven't even got the old one back yet!

I looked at that online stuff; a bit of pratting around scanning in photos - unless you take your own - and then you've got to send the old one off by post anyway, so no real advantage.

Well lets hope that this experience means that the Passport Office is one bureaucratic organisation that escapes your ire. Perhaps you could start a list of organisations that do meet your standards.

Ours was online. Two passports - to different places funnily enough. Got them back in less than a week. Was well impressed! Comes in 2 packages. The first is the new passport. Then the second is the documents you send them. They'll come and ask you to sign, but if you're not in they post through the letter box anyway.
