Rangemaster Not Working just over 2 years old

I have a rangemaster dual fuel oven, which recently stopped heating (the gas oven lights but just doesn't get hot)
I called rangemaster and they said that as it is over 2 years old, they don't cover it, or even offer a engineer out (they would instead pass details of engineers to me)
The oven itself was around £1295, my personal feeling is, as a static item, it should last longer than 2 years, and more like 5? I'll be calling my CC to check exactly when we bought it, but for info, anyone thinking of getting a rangemaster, bear this in mind.

Your statutory rights lie with whoever sold the thing to you.
The manufacturer, if not also the seller, owes you nothing beyond that specified in their warranty/guarantee.

I don't know what you expect Rangemaster to do.
You don't know what the fault is and you don't know it's inherent.
Get someone out to have a look and go from there.0 -

A local shop, I'd resisted calling them, as I knew they would say sorry not our problem, and indeed who have said it's over two years, so it's not there problem, and to contact rangemaster.
They did give me the details of a local gas fitter, and suggest the thermo coupling (?) unit might have failed.Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -

When returning items, beware shops trying the oldest trick in the book: saying they're not responsible for the shoddy goods and you must call the manufacturer. This is total nonsense!
If a company fobs you off by saying “go to the maker instead”, it's wrong. It's the retailer's job to sort it.
It doesn't matter if it's an iPod from a high street shop or a designer frock from a department store. If something's broken, torn, ripped or faulty, the seller has a legal duty to put it right as your contract is with it.0 -

Yes, To be honest they were shocking from point of delivery, I would never shop with them again. I'm just trying to dig out the receipt, or the card transaction, to see exactly when it was. The shops system only goes back to October 2014, as far as they can see, I don't exist (I'm not sure what they would say if the Revenue ever asked)Remember the time he ate my goldfish? If it was a credit card, and the price was over £100, your card issuer is equally responsible with the seller for the performance of the contract.
If the seller is being difficult, perhaps you can chase your card provider.
