Vanquis are an absolute nightmare. They did the same to my husband. Default date was jul 2015, they then changed the date to jan 16 and the default is for over £2000. We have just however got a decision in principle with a 20% deposit for a mortgage. Cant believe it just waiting on a decision on the full app.
We have complained to them and they refuse to change the date.0 -

Then the date is unlikely to to be the concern for the mortgage lender.0 -

That's amazing, very well done! Fingers crossed for your full application. Would you mind private messaging me who you have gone with please?

Unfortunate set of events but overall it does look like you are on the right track, good luck!
The only thing I would emphasise here is that please do consider using a broker when you next think of a mortgage.WeeThistle wrote: »I've spent months reading these forums in the hope of getting a mortgage. Here's my background:
April 2016 - Approached BS for mortgage (had 5% deposit) and was told to get 10% deposit. I have 2 defaults, one for £700 Capital One in September 2014 and one for £536 for Lowell in November 2015. Both are paid in full and I got into difficulties initially when at uni.
November 2016 - re-approached same BS with 10% deposit (15k for property of 150k), one default has technically dropped off for them (they only look at last 2 years) and he said he would be very surprised if it wasn't OK. Husband earns 26.5k and I earn 29k.
3 days later I've just checked my husbands credit file and Vanquis have defaulted his credit card (which was paid off in full in September) in June 2016, even though we were sticking to the agreed payment plan which had been set up and they said they wouldn't. I have rang the BS this morning and told them I've just seen it, so I guess that's us totally screwed. I've suggested I apply just in my name, but I doubt they'll go for this either given we both have defaults.
No point to my moaning, it just feels better to write it down. We've gone from hugely in debt (I'd say around 15k) and a household income of 18.5k to debt free with a 15k deposit and a household income of 55.5k over the past few years and I so felt like we were getting sorted. Feel like I'm back at square one and just so fed up of the constant knock backs. We got into debt, it won't happen again (we were young with a young family and I did a degree then a Masters with no student loan) and I'm proud of us. Just gutted to be knocked back again. Anyway, roll on June 2018 when all defaults won't show for the BS.
Back to renting for 18 months
