Single Mum Wants to Study

Options
Morning everyone,

I'm really hoping someone can guide me with this one, as I've found conflicting advice online.

I'm a single Mum on low income (Not receiving any benefits btw) I really want to go back to university part time :) Can you let me know what if any help there is out there for me in terms of finance etc

Thanks

If you are in England your starting point should be the Student Finance England website (or equivalent in the other countries of the UK). If you haven't studied at university level previously then you should be eligible for a loan to cover fees, but I believe at the moment part time study does not qualify you for a maintenance loan, but that is planned to change in 2018/19, so it might be worth delaying until then.
  • I think as you have a child you do get a bit extra help with money. I'm not sure how finances work with going back part time though. I found the MSE guide for mature students really helpful when I started looking into the financial side of uni.
