car hit my parked car

Thanks for all the replies,
Went with the 3rd party and my car has been taken in to be repaired.
My only concern is that they might say my car is beyond economical repair, its an audi a4 with 190k on the clock.
I hope this isn't the case as i imagine the offer would be incredibly low.0 -
Whether or not its a write off. whichever insurer you claimed off won't do repairs if they are not economic.
If it is a write off you can keep the car (a small deduction will be made from your settlement to cover the salvage value) and get it repaired at a baack street garage (assuming it will be economical for you)
If you get an incredibly low offer refuse it!
You should be getting its pre incident market value, so holdout for that!0 -
Just heard from the insurance company that my car has been deemed un-economical to repair. So have to wait for their valuation settlement company to ring me on Monday.
Am I right in thinking, they will offer me what they believe its worth, low end. Offer me the car back -scrap value.
As i'm dealing with 3rd party insurance, what right to negotiation do I have when they offer.
Any help appreciated, never done this before.0 -
You have the same right to negotiate as if it were your own insurance company you were dealing with. They can't enforce an offer on you (AFAIK) - you have to agree.0

Good luck. I can see this ending in tears through no fault of and massive inconvenience to the OP.
I would suggest OP contacts an independent claims negotiator."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Worth checking exactly what needs doing - but if you're being paid out - what really is essential and what is effectively cosmetic.
Bumpers are easy to replace, you should be able to pick one up for £20 or so from a scrapyard but it depends what the panel damage is. Does it affect the structure or is it just cosmetic?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Does anyone know how the insurance company make their offers or settlement? Will it be a letter or would they call me?0

cheers Missile.
If you don't mind me asking, was yours a non fault accident? was it your insurance company or third party? and was the amount what you hoped for?0 -

It was my own insurer's and a fault accident. Not as much as to replace like for like, but better than I expected."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
