Landlord trying to reclaim deposit after repaying

So in that example, you could explain to the LL why you believe you are not liable for that cost.
Or if you want, you can just ignore the LL at this stage. It's up to you to decide whether ignoring the LL, or giving the LL a reasoned explanation, is more likely to convince them to give up.
If the LL digs their heels in, and decides to take it all the way to court - the LL would present their evidence, and you would present yours. And the court would then decide 'on the balance of probabilities' who is telling the truth,0 -
The way I see it is, in between those 75 days, anything could have happened to the property.
Keep everything, ignore and just wait to see if they take to you to court.0
