had pet rats as child; best pets ever!!! glad there are others with appreciation of the little guys...
pet rats are not the same as outdoor brown or black rats that are riddled with disease.
As someone said fight fire with fire, a terrier or ferret will sort them out!!

hello,
thought i would post a update.
it was just the 1 rat... several access points into the house ("chasing it" a bad idea, confirmed)
i stopped being arsed trying to catch it (one evening it ran out like 1m from my feet).
carried on feeding it and leaving water (as didn't want it to dehydrate and die, behind the really heavy sideboard, filled with !!!!ing stupid plates).
and then it moved out....
must not have been fond of the decor.
will keep you updated if get those diseases you guys keep talking about...0 -
Glad you got a good result
very kind of you to offer food and water too!
Did you notice the colouring of the rodent in question? Just asking as I've done rescues in the past of domesticated rats that have been dumped outside by bad owners. These rats can't cope in the wild and will be attacked and killed by wild rats. They will also seek out human company in the hope of being fed.0 -

Edit: Then saw you were serious. Hey ho, everyone to their own I guess.
