Personally i'd be more worried about the N47 timing chain problems

Bmw issued a recall - sorry "quality enhancement" of some 2007 and 2008 cars using this engine so you may have got lucky and its already had remedial work carried out, but there are still lots of cars out there that haven't

If it hasn't had it replaced, then you are looking at four figures just to replace the chain as a preventative measure as they put the chain at the back of the engine, however if the chain breaks then its a new engine job. Neither option is especially attractive, and it was these findings and the number of instances of this happening on the owners' forums which put me off an X1.

If you do decide to take a gamble and keep it as is, change the oil every 6k miles

On Saturday 15th October, I bought a 2008 BMW 123d from a car dealer in South Wales having traveled from the Isle of Wight.

I hope you realise that this is never a wise thing to do, BMWs are common as muck, I mean every man and his dog has one, you don't need to and shouldn't travel such a long distance for a car. There is always the risk that despite glaringly obvious problems, you'll buy the car anyway just because of how long its taken to get there.

I don't think the 123d coupe are common as muck especially if the OP wanted one in a particular spec
