I don't use Linux Mint myself, but if you want to get rid of password prompts, I'd have a look at the ownership/permission settings of the directories you want to access.
You could also check your "sudo" configuration, but I'd be wary of doing anything that could compromise the security of your system (like getting rid of all prompts and allowing any program to elevate to root unprompted).
Sorry I can't be more specific/helpful.0 -
You could run as root all the time (Windows equivalent: Administrator/elevated), otherwise Linux treats you as a regular user, whereupon it imposes the usual security when attempting to do anything out of the ordinary.
If you want a distro which runs the user as root, try one of the variants of Puppy Linux (no, not the one for Raspberry Pi !).0 -
It's really not a good idea to run as root all the time.
Windows was originally designed to effectively run with root/Administrator rights all the time. "Standard users" and User Access Control (UAC) are retrospective hacks to make Windows more secure. The poor implementation and lack of backwards-compatibility for pre-Vista software has made the whole user-level issue a bit of a pain for Windows users.
But Unix/Linux was always designed to be a multi-user system. This is the main reason why you don't need an antivirus on a Linux PC.
So it would be MUCH better to get used to the idea of running as a standard user and elevating rights only when necessary.
I don't know if this helps:

During the install process with Mint there is the question whether or not to use password at login.pappa_golf wrote: »is there anyway to stop being asked for passwords every time you *art ?
I don't know whether it's possible to change your mind now, or whether you need to re-install it and choose the other password login option.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -

That's probably a screensaver setting. If you can find them, there should be an option to "lock" or "require password" that you can untick.0 -
ok
lock the computer when it goes to sleep ,,, now set to off
lock the computer when ther screen is turned off .... now set to off
lock the computer when its inactive "x minutes" ,,, now set to off
