Its either PCS Legal (eMoov) or Copley Clark Quality Solicitors. Can't decide which, anyone got any experiance of them?

or

Has anyone recently used another company and were very happy?

I wouldn't go near any solicitor that feels it necessary to include " quality " in their title.

It should be inferred by the fact they practice law.

Both sound like conveyancing factories. I wouldn't touch them, especially with a freehold purchase to complicate things.

Why the toss up between these two?

Sorry, freehold purchase I meant the property that I was purchasing was freehold. Family relative has used Copley in the past and was very happy, PCS are linked to eMoov.

Fair enough, But wouldn't be for me.
  • A lot of problems I've read on this forum seem to stem from using online solicitors.

This is the biggest purchase of your life, and while legal bills can seem scarily large, this really is not something you want to be scrimping on.

Get a good local solicitor, one whose office you can pop in to when paperwork needs to be signed or dropped off, and who you can speak to in person or get on the phone to very quickly if something goes wrong.
  • Being linked to somebody usually limited to getting a recommendation fee and nothing more.

If you already have a family friend happy with the service from Copley, i would go with them out of the two.

The chain of "quality" solicitors are far from it.

That. Worth the extra to have your case dealt with by one/two people who know who you are and your case details, rather than a battery farm operation where there's 25 people and you speak to whoever answers your call. Money saving is sometimes about paying a bit more to avoid the mental anguish and wasted time (and thus money!) when the cheapest option goes wrong.

As others have said, forget the 'cheap' online conveyancing warehouses.

Find a local solicitor whose office you can visit for face-toface explanations of things you don't understand, or to raise issues, questions, complaints. And where you can drop off signed documets same day for speed rather than posting.

If looking at price, make sure quotes are like for like - many online firms quote cheaper rates but add on extras that should be included but aren't.
