Decent pair of walking shoes

I work as a Mental Health Nurse,as you can imagine i spend a lot of time on my feet.Looking for recommendations for good walking trainers. Bearing in mind there is under floor heating and i do off ward escorting duty which can be up too 10 miles in a week and that's not counting the walking i do in the ward.Just need something comfy for my poor feet!!

I recently bought these. I can't speak for experience in regard to how long they last as I don't walk far, however, when I do walk, I am often in pain. These are really comfy and supportive and they get other good reviews on the Clarks site.

You could try a walking shop too. They will also offer fitting service which would be helpful to find the best pair.

When I worked on a ward, Clarks definitely did the best shoes for work - comfortable, lasted a while and were part of the dress code. Failing that, if you want a more "walking" style shoe, karrimor are good. I don't know what your dress code is like for work but they do a plain-ish black pair in Sports Direct that are pretty reasonable in price. DH has ankle issues and they are the only pair of "trainers" he's ever worn that haven't given him issues (and that includes walking about 10 miles a day at Disney World!)

If there's a store near you, Go Outdoors have quite a range & the card can gouge the cost down (just both starting costs & end prices can still be a bit hair-raising).
I've also found that staff know where the sale shelf is of ends of lines that (*if* they have your size) can lead to even more savings. Always worth asking, and also popping in when in uniform. Unsubtle, but every little helps.
  • I have Clarks Sillian Tino shoes which are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn for doing lots of walking at work. I wear them with trousers, and walk around five miles on a shift. They have lovely thick padding in the soles, although not very sexy to look at!
  • Falling flat that, in the event that you need an all the more "strolling" style shoe, karrimor are great
