JOHN LEWIS Failed To Deliver Goods On Time And In Good Condition

Hi
I was looking to buy a dishwasher and found a model on the John Lewis website, they offered a 2 year warranty and free delivery. I could have purchased the same model from Curry's at the same price but with only 1 years warranty.
I decided to go with John Lewis as it offered 2 years warranty and they have a very good reputation (Gold Standard) in customer service!
The order was placed on the 25th October 2016 and arrived on the 7th November. Unfortunately when the packing was removed by the John Lewis delivery guys the dishwasher was found to be severely damaged, both sides looked like it had been in a car crash.
So John Lewis then arranged to deliver a "REPLACMENT " on the 7th November within a 2 hour slot, very early on the 7th our answerphone recorded "its not arrived, so we cant delivery it".
So I have phoned John Lewis and asked "when will you delivery the dishwasher I ordered some 13 days ago" we don't know sir we are trying to find out where your dishwasher is we will get back to you.
So to recap:
1st they try and deliver a damaged dishwasher.
2rd they fail to deliver any dishwasher.
3rd they have no idea where the dishwasher is.
For me John Lewis are no better than the rest, at least Curry's never ever failed to deliver and never tried to deliver damaged goods, wish I had gone to Curry's

1st - They probably didn't do it on purpose. You really think they packaged it up and thought 'oh no one will notice this...'
2 and 3 - They have clearly had a stock issue and don't have the replacement now. I don't know how long its been between damage and not getting a replacement as you have put todays date for both.
You can cancel your order and order from Curry's instead.
Curry's have and will continue to do both of the things you are complaining about above, they have to many people on this site, as for the most part these things are not done on purpose.0 -
Ask to raise a complaint. This will push it up the chain and someone with authority will talk to you. They are pretty good when this happens. I had quite a mess-up when it came to buying a fridge freezer from them, but they came through in the end.
BUT - it's not a JL dishwasher, so will need to come directly from the supplier. This is one way the JL falls down; they don't keep stock, but use suppliers directly.0 -
Hi
The JL delivery guys unpacked the dishwasher outside our house and both of them failed to see the damage to it. Both sides were crumpled and the dishwasher was about 2 inches sorter at the rear than the front. I believe they would have got me to sign for it as in A1 condition (had I not checked it) and they would have been on their way.
It was only after several attempts to stop them from entering my home and pointing out the very obvious damage that they then offered me an on the spot discount if I accepted it as damaged!
Seems this has happened to them before!
At this point JL or at least their delivery guys were trying to off load damaged goods to a customer that had placed an order for a dishwasher that was in a condition that the manufactures had made it. i.e. working and not damaged.
The customer should not be the last check in quality control!0 -
Was it JL's delivery guys, or the manufacturers?
Have you bothered to raise a complaint? If you do, a JL manager will call you.0 -
You paint a very different picture on your second response.
However, have you cancelled and rebought at Currys yet?0 -

Hi
Yes you are right about the dates, my fault.
Original order placed 25.10.2016
Original delivery date was 1.11.2016 it was delivered but damaged and rejected, it came in a van with JS logo on the side.
Re-order made on 2.11.2016.
Second delivery was for 7.11.2016, however it was not delivered,.
Yes I contacted JL, they have no idea as to why it was not in the warehouse for delivery. Was told the "team" would try to find my dishwasher and would phone me by 5pm today, they did not.
No JL manager phone call, no email, no text, nothing.
I have logged a complaint via JL website.0
